George, born in South Africa to Greek and Serbian parents, emigrated to the USA in 2007. With a lifelong career in the Restaurant and Hospitality industry, he has held multiple ownerships, been a creative chef, and a restaurant and culinary consultant. A Commerce Diploma graduate from Damelin College in Johannesburg in 1967, he served as a pilot in the South African Air Force until 1969. As a second-generation restaurateur, he innovated kitchen system designs, trained in culinary concepts, and mastered Food & Beverage accounting and control for restaurant operations. His leadership and service training are highly regarded. He opened several restaurants in South Africa, including ‘Steers House of Steaks’ in 1973 and 1975. In 1979, he partnered as a sub-franchisor with Steers Famous Foods for the coastal region of South Africa, which has grown into Famous Brands, the largest restaurant company in the country. From 1979 to 1985, he developed 18 franchised restaurants for the group. He managed the family business at Tropicalé Restaurant in Durban from 1985 to 1997 and opened renowned seafood establishments, Café Fish in Durban harbor in 1996 and in Cape Town in 1998. In 1980, he founded a pioneering ‘Restaurant Food Commissary’ for production and distribution, complete with a test kitchen and butchery, revolutionizing the Steakhouse, Hotel, and Restaurant industry. Trained in the USA and equipped with Hollymatic Company's meat processing systems, the commissary became a leading supplier of prime cut steaks and burger patties. His achievements have significantly expanded the restaurant industry's horizons.
